Welcome to the Wilkinsburg Community Development Corporation – WCDC.
Since October of 2006, Wilkinsburg residents, business & property owners, county & state officials and representatives from area non-profits and organizations have been meeting to create the Wilkinsburg Community Development Corporation.
WCDC’s mission is:
~The revitalization of Wilkinsburg and surrounding areas through business and residential development;
organizational and individual civic leadership; and cultural enrichment.

If you’ve thought about purchasing a building or renting a storefront in Wilkinsburg’s business district and had trouble trying to track down a property owner or realtor; we have the answer. The WCDC is proud to share our new real estate website: www.downtownwilkinsburgparealestate.com. Why such a mouthful? Mark Harvey Smith, the real estate consultant who is working on this project explains “the web address is designed to capture anyone who googles a combination of these words or phrases. I’ve designed similar websites in other communities and this approach garners up to 60 hits per day”.
An opportunity profile for each property includes: property owner, size, status, most recent use, features, condition, asking price and contact information. This is at no cost to the property owner and does not take the place of a real estate broker.

Business District Facade Renovation Grants Available
The Wilkinsburg Community Development Corporation is pleased to announce the award of a $30,000 grant from PA DCED for Façade Renovations in Wilkinsburg’s Business District. The program is a 50/50 matching reimbursement program that provides money to commercial property owners or business owners (with property owner approval) located within the designated Main Street area, providing matching funds for projects that improve the appearance of individual building facades, signs and awnings, reimbursing 50% of total project costs up to a maximum of $10,000.

Commercial tax abatement program announced
The Borough of Wilkinsburg has an innovative way for qualified business owners, developers and investors to invest in commercial property in the Borough and take advantage of a 10 year tax abatement program on their investment in improvements. Learn more here.
